Jordan loves technology; in fact she has more apps on her iPod Touch than I have on mine so I knew that technology was going to be a part of our homeschooling adventure this year and every year. I will not be teaching her ten finger typing this term but I will be getting her familiar with the keys and functions of the keyboard. In addition to teaching her the basics of the computer and internet I have found a few virtual learning sites to help her and me out in this whole homeschooling adventure. Below are the learning apps and learning sites that she is and will be using this term.
Apps for iPod Touch/iPad
- iWriteWords awesome handwriting game $2.99
- McPea Preschool (Jordy's favorite) $0.99
- Puzzles4Kids $0.00
- TeachMe: Toddler $0.99
- Shapes and Colors game $0.00
Virtual learning
- ABCmouse: This is a full online curriculum for preschool and Kindergarden aged children, there is a free section and a membership section for $7.95 a month or $79.00 a year. I love this site the lessons are fun and easy to follow
- IXL: This site helps kids PreK to 8th grade build math skills it's awesome and I know I will be using this site as a resource for years to come. There are free lessons available and membership for $9.95 a month or $79.00 a year
- Color it by numbers: I had the chance to review this virtual coloring book, Jordan loves it the helps her with her color and number recognition, it cost $10 per coloring book
